Is it really free?
Yes. No fees, no card, no time limit. Every account gets 10 free AI actions. After that, add your own AI key or keep working with AI off.
Can I upload confidential documents?
Not to the hosted app. It is a prototype running on Vercel, so use documents without confidential or personal data there. For real documents, run your own copy from the source code.
Where does my data live?
In the hosted app, on Vercel and Supabase. Content is sent to an AI provider only during your 10 free AI actions, which run on our provider (Anthropic's Claude Haiku 5.5), or when you connect your own key. Generated documents are deleted automatically within 14 days. In your own copy, everything stays on your infrastructure.
How do I run my own copy?
DocForge is open source under the MIT License, with the code on GitHub. Run it with Docker Compose on one machine, or on a serverless platform with Postgres.
Which AI providers can I use?
Anthropic (recommended), OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Local models like Ollama and LM Studio work when you run your own copy. Keys are stored server-side and never returned. DocForge also runs with AI off.
Do you train on my data?
No. Your documents are used only to build your templates and generate your documents. During your 10 free AI actions, content goes to our provider, Anthropic. With your own key, it goes to your chosen provider under your agreement with them.
